Strengthening humanitarian demining of Ukraine together with Ziferblat

Goal: 4 million hryvnias

As of today, Ukraine is the most mined country in the world.

Over 138,000 km² of our country's territory, which has been affected by hostilities, potentially needs to be cleared. In comparison, this is more than the area of some European countries, such as Portugal. It is also 3.5 territories of Switzerland.

Switzerland is not mentioned here by accident.

It is there that the Eurovision Song Contest will take place in May. This year, Ukraine will be represented by the Ziferblat band with the song "Bird of Pray". It is a deeply emotional reflection on the reality in which we live. The main message of it is hope for change, revival and faith in the future. Through music, Ziferblat reminds the world: Ukraine is fighting resolutely and remains invincible.

Without a doubt, in order for Ukraine to fully revive, it is important to continue to fight and win. However, we can already make our lives safer. Given the scale of the damage caused by the occupiers, humanitarian demining is the direct way to this.

In order to contribute to achieving this goal, the Serhiy Prytula Humanitarian Foundation, together with Ziferblat, the National Mine Action Platform “Demining Ukraine” and with the information support of Suspilne, announces a fundraiser for 4 robotic demining machines ZMIY.

Until the land is cleared of mines and ammunition, many people cannot return home, work and live freely without fear. Suspilne journalists are among those working in every region of Ukraine. Every day they tell the world about the devastating consequences of the war. Due to mining, restoration often becomes nearly impossible: in many regions, roads, bridges, and power grids remain destroyed or inaccessible due to explosive objects. In addition, clean fields are a guarantee that agriculture will continue to function.

So, why ZMIY?

• The cost of one machine: 1 million hryvnias. A lot. But 40-80 times cheaper than existing alternatives.

And also! ZMIY works on a minimal layer of soil, which helps preserve fertile black soil. Alternatives are not capable of this.

Mines are a threat that does not disappear by itself. In Europe, ammunition from the Second World War is still found. According to current estimates, demining of Ukraine will take many decades.
